Choosing the right length snowboard for your child:
Choose a shorter board:
If they’re a beginner or ride with caution
If they’re lighter than average weight for their height
If they like to make short, quick turns but aren’t a speed demon
Choose a longer board:
If they ride aggresively and love to go fast.
If they’re heavier than average weight for their height.
If you want a snowboard that might fit them next season as well. We caution against this, as a board that’s too long for your child’s skill level may be so challenging that it takes the fun out of snowboarding.
Ultimately, your child’s skill level and preference will come into play. The snowboard needs to feel right. We highly recommend renting a few different boards before making a purchase.
