Kitesurfing Equipment Care: Proper care of your equipment

At SENDY we want gear to last longer and be used more!

Kitesurfing equipment is a serious investment, so it's important to take proper care of it to ensure its longevity and performance. It’s extremely important to maintain and store your gear so that it lasts as long as possible.

We've put together a quick guide to help keep your kitesurfing equipment is at its best:

Clean & Dry Equipment: always rinse your kite and control bar with fresh water after each session to remove salt, sand, and other debris. Salt water is no joke when it comes to sports equipment, so rinse everything really well! Allow your equipment to fully dry before storing it to prevent mold and mildew growth.

Store Equipment Properly: store your kite in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, heat sources, and sharp objects. Don’t fold or crease the kite, as this can cause permanent damage to the material. Store your control bar and lines in a clean, dry place, away from salt, sand, and other corrosive substances.

Inspect Equipment Regularly: check your kite, control bar, and lines for signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. Pay special attention to the kite bladders, which can be easily punctured by sharp objects.

Repair Damaged Equipment: if your kite or control bar is damaged, it’s important to have it repaired as soon as possible to prevent further damage and to ensure its safety. Contact a professional kite repair service for assistance with this.

Maintain Your Harness: clean your harness regularly and store it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Check the buckle and other components for signs of wear or damage, and replace any parts that are worn or damaged.

Keep Lines Tangle-Free: to keep your lines tangle-free, store them neatly coiled in a dry place. Don't allow your lines to become tangled or knotted, as this can make them difficult to use.

Use Sunscreen: To protect your kite from the damaging effects of sunlight, use a UV-resistant sunscreen on the kite material. This will help to extend the life of your kite and keep its color bright.

Follow these tips to properly care for your kitesurfing equipment, and Sail on!
