I rode these Burton Covert Pants on a warm sunny day in March 2023 at Timberline, West Virginia. Snow was firm and icy in some spots and soft and slushy in others. They did a great job keeping me dry throughout the entire day. I wore a light base layer under them and was very comfortable at the beginning of the day when it was in the low 20s and stayed comfortable as the day warmed up into the 30s. Vents between the legs were very easy to open and close up as well when needed. Burton calls this an exclusive thermo-regulating Living Lining which offers the ultimate in adaptable warmth and consistent comfort and I can agree these were perfect for a day at the resort. Their colorways are bluesign approved for reduced impact on both people and the planet. These do not have insulation so I’d recommend pairing them up with a base layer. (they do make the Covert in an insulated option if that’s what you’re looking for). The Covert Pant includes all the necessities like full knee-to-knee Test-I-Cool venting, and chairlift-friendly cargo pockets with internal stash zones. I ride with a camera a lot on hill so I love all the pockets for extra batteries, accessories, chapstick, car keys, etc. Overall, these are very comfortable, loose fitting pants with good waterproofing and durability. I did take one fall in them avoiding a skier where I ran out of snow and skidded on my backside across ices and gravel. I thought for sure they’d be torn or scuffed, but was pleasantly surprised that there was no staining, or discoloration either. I would keep them, but I’m smaller now than when I bought them and they are just too big on me now.
