Choose the Right Ski Length for Your Height
Height is often used as a starting point for selecting ski length, so here's a guideline for ski length based on your height:
Short Skis (Below Chin Height):
These are typically easier to maneuver and control, making them suitable for beginners or those who prefer skiing at slower speeds. They’re recommended for novice skiers or individuals who are shorter in height.
Medium-Length Skis (Chin to Forehead Height):
These offer a balance between stability and maneuverability, making them versatile for various skiing conditions and suitable for intermediate skiers who want control and performance.
Long Skis (Above Forehead Height):
These provide stability at higher speeds and better floatation in deep snow. They’re ideal for advanced skiers, those with aggressive skiing styles, and experienced skiers who tackle challenging terrain and prefer high-speed descents.
This is a general guideline, and other factors (i.e., weight and skiing style) must also be considered. Consult a knowledgeable ski technician or instructor and demo different ski lengths to help you determine which size skis feel most comfortable to you.
